We are thrilled to announce the extraordinary achievement of one of our talented barristers, Simao Paxi-Cato, who has been appointed as a Master of the Bench of the Honourable Society of Gray's Inn. This prestigious appointment makes Simao one of the youngest barristers in history to hold this position and the first barrister of Angolan nationality to be bestowed with such an honor.

Gray's Inn, one of the four Inns of Court, has a rich history predating the 16th century. The Inn plays a vital role in the education, training, and professional development of barristers in England and Wales. The Masters of the Bench, also known as Benchers, are distinguished members of the Inn who contribute to its governance and uphold its traditions.

Simao has demonstrated exceptional dedication to the education, training and development of the Inn's students and barristers throughout his career, making him a deserving recipient of this remarkable appointment. His accomplishment has not only brought recognition to our firm but has also made history by becoming the first barrister of Angolan nationality to be appointed as a Master of the Bench, the first barrister of a BSB Entity to be appointed as a Bencher and as one of a very small percentage of the Bench who were appointed prior to reaching 15 years call, so this is an excellent achievement.

This appointment marks a significant milestone in Simao Paxi-Cato's already illustrious career, and we couldn't be prouder of their achievement. Simao's dedication to the legal profession, commitment to excellence, and advocacy has set a remarkable example for aspiring barristers, both locally and internationally and as a former Bar Council Social Mobility Advocate of the Year, he hopes this inspires others to follow suit.

As a Master of the Bench, Simao will play a vital role in shaping the future of Gray's Inn and contributing to the legal profession as a whole. He will join a distinguished group of legal luminaries and contribute their valuable insights and expertise to the governance, education, and training programs of the Inn.

Please join us in celebrating this momentous occasion and wishing Simao continued success in his journey as a Master of the Bench of Gray's Inn. Their appointment is a testament to their exceptional abilities, dedication, and the bright future that lies ahead for them and our firm.
